January 2026 college coaches database update infographic showing 5,754 total changes, 2,616 added, and 1,991 removed across 30+ sportsOur college coaches database gets a full update every month — verifying contacts, tracking staff movements, and making sure the information you’re using to reach out to programs is as accurate as possible. Here’s a complete breakdown of what changed in our January 2026 update.

A quick note: this update was completed on March 3rd, so yes, we know the timing looks a little off. We’re currently publishing our monthly update posts out of sequence as we catch up — the data itself is real and accurate, just arriving a bit late to the blog.

January 2026 Update: By the Numbers

This month’s college coaches database update included 5,754 total changes across all sports and division levels. That breaks down to:

  • 2,616 coaches added
  • 1,991 coaches removed
  • 1,147 coaches had either an email, phone number, job and/or name change

That’s a significant amount of movement — and it reflects just how much turnover happens in college athletics on a monthly basis. Coaching staffs change constantly, whether it’s new hires, retirements, lateral moves between programs, or mid-season departures. If you’re using an outdated list of college coaching contacts, you’re likely sending emails into the void.

Football Coaching Staff Changes Led the Way

College football saw the most activity of any sport this month, accounting for 1,685 changes in our college football coaches database alone — nearly 30% of all updates across the entire database.

Football’s numbers broke down as follows:

  • 719 football coaches added
  • 584 football coaches removed

This level of activity isn’t surprising. The winter and early spring months are prime time for football staff reshuffling, as programs finalize their rosters, make coordinator hires, and bring on position coaches after the recruiting cycle wraps up. If you’re a football recruit (or the parent of one), now is exactly the right time to contact college football coaches — staffs are newly settled and actively evaluating their incoming class needs.

Why Accurate College Recruiting Contacts Matter

Finding the right contact is one of the biggest friction points in the college recruiting process. Sending a highlight video or intro email to a coach who left six months ago doesn’t just waste your time — it can create a bad impression if the message bounces or goes unanswered.

That’s why we update our college recruiting contacts database every single month. Our goal is to make sure that when you sit down to reach out to programs, you’re working with verified, up-to-date coaching information you can actually trust.
